A number of South Korean users are raising concerns with Meta after their Facebook and Instagram accounts were suspended without clear explanations.

Some of these accounts were flagged for alleged violations related to sexual exploitation of minors, which users strongly deny.

Meta Korea has attributed the issue to a technical error, but many accounts remain inaccessible.

Users report a lack of clear channels for appealing the suspensions or receiving assistance.

One user said during a private session with lawmakers, “I never uploaded anything illegal. But now people around me are suspicious. It’s humiliating.”

The matter has drawn attention from Rep. Choi Min-hee, who heads the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee.

Heo Ouk, Meta Korea’s director of public policy, apologized for the “frustration” caused.

He promised to escalate the cases to Meta’s headquarters for urgent review.
