Meta expands paid plans across Instagram, WhatsApp
Meta is rolling out paid plans globally for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, while testing Meta One subscriptions for AI users, creators, and businesses in selected markets.
Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus cost US$3.99 a month. WhatsApp Plus costs US$2.99 and includes features such as app themes, custom ringtones, and more pinned chats.
Meta said AI plans priced at US$7.99 and US$19.99 will start testing next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.
Creator and business plans priced from US$14.99 to US$49.99 will begin tests later this week in markets including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh. The new plans do not replace Meta Verified, which Meta said will remain in place for now.
The WhatsApp launch marks a broader push for the messaging app, which already charges businesses through its Business Platform, mainly via per-message pricing.
The rollout comes as Meta expects US$64b to US$72b in 2025 capital spending, largely for data centers and AI hardware.
