Meta cuts nearly a dozen jobs in India

Meta has laid off close to a dozen employees in India across ad sales, marketing, and individual contributor roles, according to people aware of the matter.

The affected employees were informed by email and offered four to six months of salary as severance.

Industry estimates put Meta’s India workforce at about 400, though the company does not disclose country-specific employee numbers.

The India cuts come amid a broader restructuring at Meta.

The company is cutting roughly 8,000 roles and reassigning about 7,000 employees, a move expected to affect about 20% of its workforce.

Revelio Labs estimates Meta had 83,135 employees globally in December 2025.

Meta has linked the restructuring to its AI efforts and raised guidance for 2026 capital expenditure to US$125 billion to US$145 billion.

India remains important for Meta, which said the country is its largest market for Meta AI usage.
