Meta AI product lead exits during internal AI overhaul

Meta executive Emily Dalton Smith is leaving the company, according to an internal announcement on June 17.

She recently took charge of product work for part of its internal AI overhaul.

The plan, called the Agent Transformation Accelerator, is meant to build AI agents for internal work and combine workplace AI tools into Metamate, Meta’s main internal AI assistant.

CTO Andrew Bosworth said Dalton Smith’s team would focus on interfaces, platform components, memory systems, and automations that make AI useful across the company.

The initiative has drawn criticism because it has coincided with layoffs, internal transfers. Meta has also rolled out software that captures keystrokes, mouse movements, clicks, and periodic screenshots to train AI systems. Meta said the data is not used for performance assessments.
