Meta acquires AI-agent platform Moltbook

Meta Platforms said it had acquired Moltbook and will bring its co‑founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr into Meta Superintelligence Labs led by Alexandr Wang.

Moltbook is a Reddit‑like social network for AI agents that launched in late January.

Axios reported the founders were expected to start on March 16, and Meta did not disclose financial terms.

Cybersecurity firm Wiz said a flaw in Moltbook exposed private messages, more than 6,000 email addresses, and more than a million credentials.

The acquisition highlights competition among tech firms to acquire AI talent as autonomous agents capable of executing real‑world tasks move from novelty to the next frontier of the industry.

Industry figures reacted cautiously, with Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO, calling the site a likely fad but saying the underlying technology offered a glimpse of the future, and Mike Krieger, Anthropic’s chief product officer, saying most people are not yet ready to give AI full autonomy over their computers.
