Menlo Ventures leads Nectar Social’s $30m series A
Nectar Social, an AI marketing software startup founded by former Meta employees, has raised US$30 million in a series A round led by Menlo Ventures and Anthology Fund, Menlo’s fund created with Anthropic.
The company said its software uses autonomous AI agents to help brands manage social activity, moderation, creator workflows, competitive tracking, and commerce conversations using data from partners including Meta and Reddit.
Founded by sisters Misbah and Farah Uraizee, Nectar Social said it will use the funding to hire across applied AI, engineering, and go-to-market, while Kinship Ventures, GV, and True Ventures also joined the round.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Nectar’s AI agents target social media data gaps
- Nectar Social wants to tie community engagement to revenue, not just help brands handle social activity 1.
- The system analyzes untagged mentions, direct messages, and video frames. The company says 95% of community conversations happen outside tags and hashtags, and it aims to “hear 100% of the chatter” while catching trends faster than older social media software 1.
- For brand safety, the platform uses “human-in-the-loop” validation. Marketing teams can test and approve AI-written replies before wider rollout 1.
- Nectar brings social listening, direct messaging, and influencer insight into one dashboard. That gives brands a customer relationship management tool for organic social media 1.
AI is scaling the brand playbook
- Liquid Death, a canned water brand known for unusual marketing, has reached a US$1.4 billion valuation. Its rise came in part from brand and community building, not product features alone 2.
- This approach matters for Gen Z, a generation born roughly between the late 1990s and early 2010s. Many use social media to research products and expect personalized, low-friction experiences with both human interaction and AI speed 3.
- For large consumer brands, Nectar’s technology helps manage that approach at scale. It can automate and route personalized exchanges that are hard to handle by hand 1.
- Marketing spending may keep shifting from traditional ads toward AI-powered community management, as companies push social media teams to drive measurable revenue 1.
