MENA startups funding drop 77% in October: report
Startup funding in the Middle East and North Africa fell to US$785 million in October 2025, down 77% from September’s US$3.5 billion.
Debt financing made up 72% of the total, with four deals bringing in US$568 million, while equity and other funding contributed US$217 million.
The UAE led with US$616 million over 15 deals, driven by Property Finder’s US$525 million debt round.
Saudi Arabia followed with US$119 million across 15 deals, and Egypt raised US$33 million through five deals.
Proptech was the top-funded sector, boosted by Property Finder’s round, followed by SaaS and gametech.
Fintech’s funding dropped to US$12.5 million but remained the most active by deal count.
Early-stage startups dominated with 32 deals and US$95 million raised, while only one late-stage round was recorded.
Male-led startups took 93% of total funding, with female-founded companies securing US$4.5 million.
