Memecoin platform Pump.fun hits $600m in 12-minute sale

Memecoin launchpad Pump.fun raised US$600 million in a public sale of its PUMP tokens on July 12, 2025.

The sale sold out in just 12 minutes, offering 15% of the platform’s total token supply and valuing the project at US$4 billion.

Each token was priced at US$0.004.

Initially, Pump.fun announced a 12.5% allocation, but co-founder Alon Cohen later clarified that the full 15% was sold.

The sale took place across multiple exchanges and required users to complete KYC checks.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Memecoin launchpads showcase unprecedented capital velocity

Pump.fun’s $600 million raise in just 12 minutes demonstrates capital formation speeds that dwarf traditional fundraising timelines.

This rapid capital concentration stands in stark contrast to traditional venture funding, where even the fastest Series A rounds typically take weeks or months to close after due diligence processes.

The platform’s $4 billion fully diluted valuation was achieved despite only launching in recent months, highlighting how crypto platforms can reach unicorn-level valuations at speeds virtually impossible in other sectors.

Pump.fun has reportedly generated over $700 million in revenue since its inception, making it an outlier even among high-growth tech companies in terms of revenue acceleration.

This capital velocity carries significant risks, however, as evidenced by the numerous exchange technical issues mentioned in the article, including Bybit’s API delays that left some purchasers without allocations.

2️⃣ Fierce competition reshaping Solana’s memecoin landscape

Pump.fun’s token sale occurs against a backdrop of intensifying competition, with rival LetsBonk recently overtaking it in daily revenue by generating $1.04 million compared to Pump.fun’s $533,412.

LetsBonk has rapidly scaled its operations since launching on April 25, already capturing 49.8% of market share in daily activity compared to Pump.fun’s 40.9%.
