Mekong Capital sells majority stake in Vietnam’s Mutosi
Mekong Capital, a Vietnam-focused firm based in Ho Chi Minh City, said on September 9 that it sold its majority stake in Mutosi Group Joint Stock Company, a Vietnamese residential water purification company, to Ariston Group.
The sale marks Mekong Capital’s exit from an investment it made in the Vietnamese residential water purification company in 2021.
Ariston now holds an 83% stake in Mutosi, while Mutosi’s management team retains 17% and will remain involved in the business, according to Mekong Capital.
Mekong Capital said it invested through Mekong Enterprise Fund IV and worked with Mutosi on product expansion, distribution, manufacturing efficiency, and corporate governance before the sale.
The acquisition gives Ariston a Vietnam-based maker of residential water purification products and related products, and marks its move to enter water purification.
Vietnam’s water purifier market is expected to grow through 2031, driven by concerns about water quality, urbanization, and rising middle-class incomes.
