Meituan expands AI push with new platform for businesses

Meituan, a China-based on-demand services and local commerce platform, launched CatPaw on July 27 as an AI workbench and enterprise platform for developing and hosting agents. The company said the product can help merchants build AI assistants for daily operations.

Meituan said CatPaw has already been deployed internally, covering 90,000 employees, with more than 30,000 agents built.

It has also been tested in scenarios including catering, beauty services, and pet hospitals.

The launch could eventually give Meituan access to 14.5 million active merchants, based on the company’s latest disclosed 2024 operating metrics.

It also places Meituan within a broader push into enterprise AI agents in China. Alibaba in March 2026 introduced Wukong, an invitation-only platform for business users.
