Meesho sets India stock listing after $603m IPO raise
Meesho, an Indian ecommerce platform, is set to list on the Mumbai stock exchange on December 10, after raising US$603 million in its IPO.
The company sold shares at 111 rupees (US$1.23) each, valuing it at around US$5.6 billion.
The IPO was fully subscribed on its first day and saw demand more than 79x the shares on offer.
Meesho connects small manufacturers with price-sensitive consumers, mainly in smaller cities, and plans to use some IPO proceeds to expand into more towns.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Meesho’s 79x IPO demand rides on Valmo, now at 65% of orders
- In H1 FY26, Valmo handled 695 million orders 1, equal to 65% of shipments 1. That rose from 20% in 2023–24, cutting per-order costs from ₹50.45 to ₹37.70 2.
- Valmo runs as an in-house logistics aggregator (software and partnerships that coordinate deliveries across many small couriers rather than owning assets) 2. Unlike Flipkart’s Ekart (Flipkart is an Indian ecommerce company; Ekart is its logistics arm) 2, Valmo owns no trucks or warehouses, and it taps over 3,000 small courier firms 2. This setup trims logistics spend versus traditional providers 2 for a company that still loses ₹39.4 billion a year while pricing aggressively.
- The 79x oversubscription signals faith that Valmo can keep costs low in tier-2/3 towns, where patchy roads and 72% cash-on-delivery rates raise logistics bills 3.
3PLs face thinner volumes as in-house share nears 75–80%
- Analysts expect Valmo to take 75–80% of Meesho orders 1. That would leave about 20% for 3PLs such as Delhivery and Ecom Express, with Meesho already shipping 1.08 billion orders in H1 FY26 1.
- Partnership openings sit in regions where Valmo coverage is weak 2. Low-density tier-3+ areas with unclear addresses strain its aggregation model, which hurts predictability and returns on COD orders 2.
- A ₹1,390 crore cloud spend hints at more work on Valmo’s orchestration layer 3. Route optimization, real-time tracking, or reverse logistics vendors can sell into its 3,000-partner network 2.
