MediaTek is launching the Dimensity 9500, a new mobile chip designed to handle more advanced AI tasks on smartphones.

The Taiwanese semiconductor firm said the processor, built using a 3-nanometer process by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., will enable features like enhanced call and meeting summaries, improved AI model performance, and higher-quality 4K photos.

Phones with the Dimensity 9500 are expected to be available in Q4 2025.

The launch comes as Xiaomi prepares to release its latest handset range powered by Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon processor, and targets Apple’s iPhone 17 as a benchmark.

MediaTek’s chip is expected to give brands such as Vivo a boost in the premium smartphone segment.
