MDI Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Indonesia-based telecoms company TelkomGroup, said on October 6 that it had updated its Southeast Asia investment thesis to focus on AI, blockchain, and digital assets.

The firm said Singapore would be its main market for finding deals.

It planned to back startups in enterprise AI applications, AI infrastructure, governance software, real-world asset tokenisation, institutional custody, and regulated digital asset infrastructure.

MDI said the shift reflected continued investor interest in AI despite a broader regional funding slowdown, as well as growing interest in blockchain applications for institutions, including payments, settlement, and compliance.

The move comes as Southeast Asia venture activity has slowed, while Singapore’s regulators continue exploring tokenisation in regulated markets and have said they plan to support commercialisation of asset tokenisation.
