MariBank Philippines Inc., a digital bank in the Philippines under Sea Limited’s group, began operating on July 18 after the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas approved its conversion from a rural bank.

MariBank Philippines said it had reclassified from a rural bank to a digital bank and that it is a subsidiary of MariBank Singapore Private Limited.

The launch made MariBank Philippines the country’s seventh licensed digital bank, joining UNO Digital Bank, UnionDigital Bank, GoTyme Bank, Tonik Digital Bank, Maya Bank, and Overseas Filipino Bank, the digital banking arm of state-owned Land Bank of the Philippines.

MariBank Philippines’ website also showed that users can connect a Shopee account and link it to ShopeePay.
