Manus resumes independent operations after Meta deal
Manus, a Chinese-founded startup that builds autonomous AI agents, said on September 1 it had formally resumed independent operations more than four months after Beijing blocked its US$2 billion acquisition by Meta.
In a blog post, Manus said its founding team would continue leading the company as an “independent agent lab”.
It also said users whose data was erased to meet regulatory requirements in specific parts of the world could recover it through a restoration portal.
Three weeks earlier, Manus told users it would erase some data generated on or after December 29, 2025, the date the startup said Meta had acquired it, and warned that some users might face a temporary interruption in access during the transition.
