Manus maker Butterfly Effect lands over $500m funding

Butterfly Effect, a China-based company behind the AI agent Manus, said on October 8 that it recently completed a funding round of more than US$500 million.

Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the round, and existing shareholders Tencent, HSG, and ZhenFund also participated.

Manus is described as an AI agent that can execute tasks and workflows on a user’s behalf, rather than only generate text.

The new round follows Butterfly Effect’s earlier US$75 million fundraising, which reportedly valued the company at US$500 million.

Manus also lists pricing and offers team plans, suggesting Butterfly Effect is building a commercial business as China’s AI agent market expands.
