Malaysia-based blockchain infrastructure company Zetrix AI Berhad said on July 7 that its Zetrix layer-1 blockchain is set to serve as the protocol for a planned Philippine public blockchain.

The preliminary memorandum of understanding was signed with the Philippines’ Department of Information and Communications Technology, together with subsidiary Zetrix Philippines Inc and My Blockchain Infrastructure Sdn Bhd, a joint venture with MIMOS Berhad.

Zetrix AI said the agreement covers cross-border interoperability between Malaysian and Philippine digital identity systems, as well as the issuance, verification, and authentication of Philippine government-issued credentials.

The partnership also includes trade facilitation services.

The company was renamed from My E.G. Services Berhad on July 3. In its 2024 annual report, it said Web3 services were a key growth driver.

Zetrix describes itself as a layer-1 public blockchain that serves as the foundation of Malaysia’s blockchain infrastructure. Related applications have included customs-linked trade services involving the Philippines.

The company did not disclose financial terms, a launch timeline, or whether the memorandum of understanding is binding.
