Malaysia’s U Mobile blocks 265 million scam calls, texts
U Mobile, a 5G network provider in Malaysia, has blocked over 265 million scam calls and fraudulent SMS across its 4G and 5G networks since February 2025.
The company partnered with Cellusys, a network security solutions provider, to implement a system that screens all inbound calls and SMS for suspicious activity.
U Mobile said the protection operates at the network level, preventing threats before they reach customers.
Malaysia has one of the highest rates of reported scam calls and fraudulent SMS in Southeast Asia, according to the Global Anti-Scam Alliance.
The initiative reflects wider efforts in Malaysia to counter digital fraud and improve consumer safety.
