Malaysian fintech firm AhaPay expands with DirectD

AhaPay, a Malaysian buy now, pay later provider, said on 6 July 2026 that it had partnered with DirectD, a mobile phone and gadget retailer in Malaysia.

The partnership aims to add BNPL and instalment payments in DirectD’s stores across Malaysia after an initial deployment began in Q2 2026.

AhaPay said it is developed and supported by Singapore-headquartered Fingular.

The expansion comes as Malaysia tightens BNPL oversight under the Consumer Credit Act 2025. Providers are required to assess borrowers’ ability to repay before offering credit.

The release cited GlobalData, which said Malaysia had about 7.5 million active BNPL users across online and offline channels in H2 2025.
