Macquarie Cloud Services, the cloud arm of Australia’s Macquarie Technology Group, said on August 12 it had signed a three-year Microsoft Datacenter Optimization agreement to increase Azure use and support Australian customers migrating and modernizing cloud workloads.

Microsoft’s DCO is a global initiative that helps partners grow their Azure practices and support hybrid cloud transformation.

Macquarie said Microsoft forecast its Azure spending could reach up to A$278 million (US$193.1 million) over the three-year term.

The company said it was its third DCO agreement with Microsoft and followed six years of Microsoft Expert Managed Services Provider status.

Macquarie also said Australia’s public cloud market could reach about A$220 billion (US$155 billion) by 2034. It cited AI, cybersecurity, system modernization, and regulatory requirements, though the reports cited did not name an external source for that forecast.
