Lyft reserves US-made self-driving cars for 2026 fleet launch

Lyft has reserved several hundred autonomous vehicles from Tensor Auto, a San Jose-based AV startup spun out of China’s AutoX.

Tensor will manufacture its Robocar in Vietnam with VinFast, with Lyft’s platform built in from the factory for direct integration in areas with level 4 AV regulations.

The Robocar will feature over 100 sensors, including cameras, lidars, and radars, and use eight Nvidia Blackwell-based chips for data processing.

Tensor expects to deliver the first units by the end of 2026.

This marks Lyft’s first direct reservation and planned operation of its own AV fleet, following partnerships with May Mobility and Waymo.
