LinkedIn is closing its Tel Aviv development center and laying off nearly all of its roughly 50 employees, with a small number expected to remain temporarily to handle ongoing business activities.

The Microsoft-owned company opened the office in 2022 after acquiring Oribi, an Israel-based analytics startup founded by Iris Shoor, for an estimated US$80 million to US$90 million.

At the time, LinkedIn said Oribi’s technology would help improve campaign attribution, measure website conversions with automated tags and no-code tools, and build more effective audiences for LinkedIn Marketing Solutions.

LinkedIn also said the acquisition would establish a Tel Aviv office focused on analytics, attribution technology, engineering, and product development.

A LinkedIn spokesperson said the company is proposing changes to some roles to focus its teams and business on its top priorities.

The closure comes as Microsoft cuts costs, including a recent move to lay off 9,000 employees, though the available information does not directly tie the Israel layoffs to broader restructuring at LinkedIn.
