LinkedIn adds AI search tool to simplify job hunting
LinkedIn has launched a new generative AI feature to simplify job searches.
The tool enables users to find job listings by describing their ideal roles in natural language, such as “entry-level brand manager roles in fashion” or “analyst jobs focused on sustainability challenges.”
This AI-powered search bar offers more flexibility than traditional search filters.
The feature is currently available in English for LinkedIn Premium subscribers.
It will be accessible to all users with Global English settings by the end of the week.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ The evolution of job search reflects technology’s increasing personalization
LinkedIn’s new natural language job search represents the latest milestone in a 60-year recruitment technology evolution that has consistently moved toward more personalized experiences.
The industry has transformed from newspaper classifieds in the pre-1990s to basic online job boards in the late 1990s, then to job aggregators in the mid-2000s, and finally to AI-powered platforms today 1.
This progression parallels broader technology trends: first digitizing information (job boards), then organizing it at scale (aggregators like Indeed), and now personalizing it through AI to match individual preferences and skills.
The 2010s marked a critical shift with the rise of social recruiting and professional networks, where LinkedIn established itself as the dominant professional identity platform rather than just a job listing site 1.
LinkedIn’s new natural language search capability continues this evolution by adapting to how people naturally express their career aspirations rather than forcing them to translate their desires into structured database parameters.
2️⃣ AI recruitment tools face ongoing bias challenges despite innovation
While LinkedIn introduces more intuitive AI-powered job search, the recruitment industry continues grappling with algorithmic bias concerns that have led some companies to reconsider their AI implementation strategies.
Amazon notably scrapped its AI recruiting tool after discovering it systematically favored male candidates—a consequence of being trained on historically male-dominated application data, illustrating how algorithms can perpetuate rather than eliminate biases 2.
