Line Man Wongnai targets 3,000 more EV drivers by 2026

Line Man Wongnai, a Bangkok-based Thai on-demand platform, said on July 8 that it plans to add more than 3,000 electric vehicle drivers to Line Man Ride by the end of 2026.

The company is also testing a Comfort feature for larger EVs in parts of Bangkok and nearby provinces.

The company said EVs can cut drivers’ fuel costs by more than 60% and raise net income by more than 30% compared with a regular taxi.

To expand driver supply, Line Man Ride is offering a rental model with a 4,000 baht (US$120) upfront payment, support for obtaining public driving licenses, and the option to own the vehicle after six years of renting.

The expansion builds on Line Man Ride’s launch in 2024. The company aims to become one of Thailand’s top three ride-hailing platforms. Rival Grab said it has deployed 10,000 EVs through Thailand program.
