Silicon Valley venture firm Lightspeed is targeting US$250 million for a new early-stage India and Southeast Asia fund focused on AI, according to an investor letter and an earlier US regulatory filing.

The fund, Lightspeed India Partners V, is expected to begin investing within two months.

It follows Lightspeed’s 2022 regional fund, which raised US$500 million.

The letter said about 80% of that fund has been committed.

It also said Lightspeed will align its India funds with its global fundraising cycle.

Lightspeed told investors the new fund is smaller because of its current investment pace and a shorter investment period of about two and a half years.

The AI focus comes as India has issued AI governance guidelines in 2026.

Lightspeed manages more than US$65 billion globally. It raised US$9 billion across new funds in December 2025.
