Lightspeed leads AI legal startup Sandstone’s $30m round
Sandstone, an AI legal software startup for in-house legal teams at small and midsized businesses, raised a US$30 million series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
The company said its software routes legal requests from Slack, email, and Jira. It was co-founded by former corporate legal consultant Nick Fleisher and former in-house lawyer Jarryd Strydom.
The round also included existing investors Sequoia, Mantis VC, SV Angel, Operator Partners, Kearny Jackson, Daybreak Ventures, and Litquidity Ventures.
It came six months after a US$10 million seed round in January led by Sequoia. At the time, Sandstone said it had a couple of dozen paying customers, including a couple of Fortune 500 companies. Sequoia also said it previously backed an undisclosed pre-seed round.
Sandstone describes itself as an intake and workflow hub for corporate legal teams, rather than a legal reasoning tool.
