LG Uplus to unveil human-centered AI stack at MWC

LG Uplus, a South Korean telecom operator, will unveil its “Human-Centered AI” vision on March 2 at MWC in Barcelona.

The exhibit follows a four-stage 4A strategy of Assured, Adaptive, Accompanied and Altruistic Intelligence, featuring security, voice, LG affiliates and partner technologies, and human-centered outcomes.

Voice-based services are central, with LG Uplus demonstrating ixi-O pro via video presentations.

On security, the company will present ixi-Guardian 2.0, homomorphic encryption developed with CryptoLab.

LG Uplus will also showcase the Autonomous NW Solution and the Sovereign AI Full-Stack Solution built with LG AI Research and FuriosaAI for immediate deployment with just power and network.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Beyond the MWC hype, LG Uplus’s AI is already delivering results

  • The “Autonomous NW Solution” is in use today. It runs on LG Uplus’s AION (Artificial Intelligence Orchestration Nexus) platform, which the company has deployed on its commercial network 1.
  • After AION rolled out, LG Uplus said mobile customer quality complaint filings dropped 70% 1. AI agents track network performance, flag abnormal signs, then start fixes such as remote processing or on-site dispatch 1.
  • The “Sovereign AI Full-Stack Solution” is an all-in-one stack built with LG AI Research and FuriosaAI (a South Korean AI chip startup) 2. LG Uplus says it can go live quickly by connecting power plus network 2.
  • LG AI Research also leads a government-backed consortium picked for Korea’s “national AI foundation model” project. The work targets domestic foundation models that support digital sovereignty 3.
  • Separately, LG Uplus has said its ixi-O AI call assistant, introduced in 2025, runs on Google Cloud’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Live large language model 4. This sits outside the MWC ixi-O Pro announcement 4.

LG Uplus offers a blueprint for telcos to escape the ‘dumb pipe’ trap

  • The plan gives telecom operators a way to move beyond basic connectivity, while reducing the share of AI revenue that flows to tech giants.
  • LG Uplus said it is in talks with several telecom operators across Southeast Asia to expand ixi-O globally as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering 4.
  • It is building an AI data center in Paju that is set to finish in 2027 5. LG Uplus also says it is growing an integrated consulting business that spans design, construction, and operations for client data centers 5.
  • Using network operations expertise, LG Group affiliate hardware, plus exportable AI software, LG Uplus says it plans to add revenue streams beyond traditional telecom services 5.
