LG launches AI graduate school in South Korea
LG Group launched an in-house AI graduate school this week at its Magok campus in Seoul.
It is the first corporate graduate program in South Korea to receive official accreditation from the Ministry of Education, LG said.
The school allows employees to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees with full tuition support, LG added.
Koo Kwang-mo, chairman, said AI advances should serve people and presented students with the latest-generation LG Gram laptops equipped with LG’s AI model, Exaone.
The first cohort has 17 students: eight from LG Electronics, three from LG Energy Solution, two from LG Innotek, two from LG Display, and two from LG Chem.
The master’s program runs one year and the doctoral program requires at least three years; the faculty includes 24 adjunct professors from LG AI Research plus one full-time professor.
The curriculum will draw on LG AI Research – the group-level AI think tank launched in 2020 – and its infrastructure and industrial data.
The program will host special lectures with Seoul National University, KAIST, DGIST, and UNIST.
