LG expands Nvidia partnership into physical AI
South Korea’s LG Electronics said on April 29 during its first-quarter 2026 earnings call that it is expanding its work with Nvidia into physical AI.
It said broader work in robotics could create synergies but did not disclose specific terms.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
The partnership reaches past robots into factories and data centers
- LG first plans to pair its home robot, CLOiD, with Nvidia Isaac, a robotics software and simulation system. That setup lets engineers train the robot in a physics-based simulation before real-world deployment 1.
- LG is also using Nvidia Omniverse to build digital twins of its smart factories, virtual replicas of real facilities. Those models let factory teams test production lines digitally before making changes on the floor 2.
- The deal also covers data centers. LG is developing AI data center cooling solutions and seeking Nvidia certification for its cooling distribution unit (CDU), equipment that manages liquid cooling for servers 3.
LG’s strategy tracks a broader shift in industrial robotics
- The alliance fits a broader shift as established manufacturers use specialized AI platforms instead of building core technology from scratch 4.
- Nvidia supplies the full stack. It includes Jetson Thor hardware for on-robot inference, meaning AI models run on the robot itself, plus Isaac simulation frameworks that LG can use 4.
- That approach lets companies apply deep domain knowledge such as LG’s decades of experience with home environments in a market projected to reach US$38 billion by 2035 5.
