LG Electronics wins $77m incentive to expand India plant

LG Electronics has received a 15-year incentive package worth around US$77 million from the Maharashtra government to support the expansion of its Pune factory in India.

The package, approved earlier this month, covers investments made between 2017 and 2024 and includes refunds on state goods and services tax, electricity subsidies, property and stamp duty waivers, and partial reimbursement of employee pension contributions.

The incentive aims to lower long-term manufacturing costs and enhance operational efficiency in India, a key market for LG.

The Pune facility produces TVs and air conditioners for the domestic and export markets, while LG also operates a plant in Noida for refrigerators and washing machines.
