LG Electronics to test AI home robot in 2027, CEO says

LG Electronics will begin real-world testing of its new AI home robot, CLOiD, in 2027, CEO Lyu Jae-cheol said at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.

The company introduced CLOiD as a home assistant capable of both physical and decision-making tasks.

Lyu said the commercial launch date will be decided after evaluating the upcoming feasibility demonstration and noted that advances in robotics could accelerate the timeline, while safety and reliability remain priorities.

CLOiD has faced criticism for its operation speed compared to other robots at CES, particularly those from Chinese firms.

Lyu acknowledged these concerns, saying performance improvements are ongoing through continued training.

The company expects CLOiD’s speed and capabilities to improve in the coming months.
