South Korea’s LG Electronics said on July 7 that its preliminary second-quarter 2026 revenue rose 14.9% year on year to 23.8 trillion won (US$15.5 billion), while operating profit jumped 146.9% to 1.6 trillion won (US$1.03 billion).

Stronger sales of home appliances and TVs, along with a one-time gain from a tariff refund in the US, boosted results.

It was the second straight quarter in which LG Electronics posted operating profit above 1 trillion won (US$650 million), the first such streak since the first and second quarters of 2024. The results beat FnGuide estimates.

First-half operating profit reached 3.3 trillion won (US$2.11 billion), exceeding the company’s full-year 2025 operating profit of 2.5 trillion won (US$1.61 billion). LG Electronics will release detailed second-quarter results later in July.

The year-on-year comparison also reflects a weak 2025 base. Profit fell last year as a delayed recovery in display demand and tougher competition raised marketing costs, while LG Electronics recorded several hundred billion won in one-off restructuring charges.
