LG Electronics expands Nvidia ties for robotics
South Korea’s LG Electronics said on July 30 that it is expanding partnerships with Nvidia and Chinese robotics companies to build a physical AI business in robot hardware and software.
The move builds on LG’s robotics push. In January, the company said it would acquire a majority stake in Bear Robotics and fold its LG CLOi commercial robot operations into the company.
LG and Nvidia are already working to simulate and train robots in virtual environments using Nvidia Isaac tools, and to explore GR00T models for home and modular robots.
Physical AI refers to AI for robots and other systems that can perceive, reason, and act in the physical world, often using simulation during development.
LG said it also plans to use technologies from affiliates, including LG AI Research’s EXAONE model, LG CNS software platforms, LG Innotek vision technology, and LG Energy Solution batteries.
The company said it will disclose more details on external partnerships after discussions are finalised.
