🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Lenskart’s growth comes from getting more out of current stores and customers

- Eye tests reached 5.5 million in the quarter. First-time customers made up 49%, which widens demand for vision care 1.
- Average selling prices rose 7% as shoppers moved upmarket. Premium items such as Owndays lenses (a higher-end lens offering) now make up 38% of revenue, Mint reported 1.
- International business turned profitable in the previous quarter. It added ₹325 million in profit in Q3, YourStory reported 2.
The company is putting profits and IPO money into AI and tech, plus retail and manufacturing growth
- Profits are paying for work toward an “AI-first company,” including AI-enabled self-eye-testing and smart glasses 1.
- Lenskart plans to launch its AI camera smart glasses, “B by Lenskart”. Inc42 reported plans to open the product to India’s developer ecosystem (external software makers) for third-party integrations 3.
- Inc42 wrote that the move could support a platform ecosystem plus recurring revenue. It would place Lenskart alongside Meta and Reliance Jio’s smart-glasses efforts rather than only eyewear brands 3.
- Inc42 also reported a proposed non-binding MoU-backed ₹15 billion greenfield manufacturing investment in Telangana rather than Hyderabad 3. A greenfield project is a new facility built from scratch. The plan backs a shift of more manufacturing from China to India 3.
