Lenskart posts strong Q2 growth after market debut
Lenskart reported a 21% year-on-year rise in Q2 revenue to 2,100 crore rupee (US$235 million), its first earnings release since listing on Indian stock exchanges.
The eyewear retailer, based in NCR, also saw profit after tax increase by 19% to 100 crore rupee (US$11.2 million) compared to the same period last year.
Quarter-on-quarter, its revenue rose 10%, while profit jumped about 70% from Q1.
Lenskart, which went public with a 7,300 crore rupee (US$817 million) IPO in early November, listed at a discount despite the issue being subscribed 28 times.
It accelerated expansion into Tier II cities, reporting revenue per store as healthy as in Tier I, with better profitability.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Lenskart Tier II profit claim lacks detail for a sustainability check
- The company says revenue and profit look strong in Tier II cities. It has not shared same-store sales growth, store additions by tier, or offline versus online mix. Those metrics would separate ramp-up gains from durable unit economics.
- International product margin hit 75.7 percent in H1 FY26, up 88 basis points year on year. The company gives no Tier II gross margin or marketing intensity detail, so readers cannot tell if domestic expansion relies on discounts 1.
- Capacity use rose from 47.9 percent in FY25 to 63.4 percent now. A new Hyderabad, India plant adds 50 million pairs of annual capacity. Absent gross margin trends, investors cannot tell if scale gains are landing or if earlier low use hid inefficiencies 1.
Tier II rollout opens near-term work for POS, AR, and logistics vendors
- Fast Tier II expansion continues. Over 500 stores now run AI-enabled remote testing (in-store digital eye exams assisted by AI and remote optometrists). That opens work for POS systems, omnichannel SaaS, and AR try-on partners that can integrate with the eye-testing setup 1.
- H1 FY26 included 9.3 million eye tests. The rollout of self-test kiosks and mobile tools creates demand for eye-test equipment makers, plus BNPL or Unified Payments Interface partners for instant checkout in smaller cities 1.
- GeoIQ-powered location analytics guide site picks in low-penetration Tier II and III markets. Logistics and last-mile firms need city-by-city rollout cadence plus hiring signals to time capacity expansion and partnership outreach 2.
