Lenskart opens early access in India for AI smart glasses

Lenskart, an Indian eyewear retailer, said it has opened early access in India for B by Lenskart, a pair of Gemini-powered smart glasses that it first showed at its IPO event in November 2025.

The device includes a 12 MP camera, directional speakers, a three-microphone array, a Snapdragon AR1 processor, and an LED light that turns on when the camera is recording or taking photos.

Lenskart said the glasses support more than 40 languages, weigh 40 grams, and connect to a companion app for media storage, settings, AI interactions, and syncing.

The company plans to price the product at 27,000 rupees (US$280) at commercial launch, with an early-access price of 22,000 rupees (US$230) and said its waitlist had more than 35,000 registrations as of May 12.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Lenskart frames smart glasses as a software platform

  • Lenskart plans to let software developers use the AI and camera features in its upcoming glasses, with links to apps in food delivery, fitness, and entertainment 1.
  • The company wants to build what it calls India’s first wearables system built in-house, covering hardware, AI work, and software design 1.
  • It also plans to lean on its retail stores, factory operations, and supply chain control to help shape India’s AI-powered wearables market 1.

A lower early-access price may squeeze rivals

  • Lenskart’s early-access price of 22,000 rupees (US$230) sits well below Ray-Ban Meta glasses in India, which start at about 39,900 rupees (US$420) 2.
  • That gap could open the category to more buyers and add price pressure as the market grows.
  • Both Lenskart and Meta use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, so the processor base is becoming similar across top devices 2.
  • The contest may come down to software and app ties, with Lenskart pushing practical integrations for developers while Meta leans on a larger content-sharing network 2.
