Lenovo debuts Qira AI platform at CES 2026

Lenovo introduced Qira, its new ambient intelligence platform for devices, at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.

Qira will roll out to select Lenovo PCs, tablets, smartphones, and wearables starting in Q1 2026, with Motorola devices to follow.

The company says Qira is embedded at the system level and offers context-aware support without the need to open a separate app.

Features include proactive suggestions, writing help, real-time collaboration, meeting transcriptions, and summaries.

Lenovo said that Qira focuses on user privacy by prioritizing on-device data processing and secure cloud integration.

The platform is supported by partners like Microsoft, Stability AI, Notion, Perplexity, and Expedia Group.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Lenovo’s ambient AI arrives without hardware details

  • Lenovo has not said which models get Qira at launch or the minimum on-device specs such as Neural Processing Unit (NPU) TOPS, chip families or OS versions.
  • That matters because many Microsoft Copilot+ (Windows AI PC) features need NPUs with 40+ TOPS, so it is unclear if Qira runs on current Lenovo machines or pushes new purchases 1.
  • Lenovo previously showed an AI Display with a built-in NPU and an AI Stick rated at 32 TOPS, yet it sits under the 40 TOPS bar for Windows 11 Copilot+ features 2.
  • This uncertainty makes near-term adoption hard to judge and leaves open if Qira favors newer premium gear or reaches Lenovo’s broader installed base.

Third-party developers get deeper integration if Qira opens APIs

  • If Lenovo ships a Qira Software Development Kit (SDK) with application programming interfaces (APIs) like the Commercial Software Development Kit for device management, hardware and user experience, Software as a Service (SaaS) vendors could plug services into always-on surfaces on Lenovo devices 3.
  • The company’s AI Developer suite eases work with full-stack blueprints, open-source tools plus NVIDIA AI Workbench (a toolkit to build AI models, then deploy them across local or cloud environments) so Lenovo can support developers 4.
  • For Business-to-Business (B2B) software firms focused on enterprise productivity, a Qira program could plug into meeting transcriptions, team workflows or proactive suggestions without opening separate apps.
  • Developers should watch for SDK news with timelines as Lenovo works with Microsoft, Notion and Perplexity.
