Kuaishou’s Kling AI unit set for $2b investment
Kuaishou, a Beijing-based short-video and livestreaming company, said initial investors agreed to inject a total of US$2 billion in cash into Beijing Kling, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary linked to its Kling AI business.
The company disclosed the information in a Hong Kong stock exchange filing.
The investment is subject to conditions being met or waived.
Kuaishou said Beijing Kling is expected to hold the group’s Kling AI assets and business after a planned restructuring.
Kuaishou has described Kling AI as a video-generation model for ordinary users that offers text-to-video and image-to-video tools.
The company said Kling AI serves more than 10,000 corporate clients and developers in China and overseas through its application programming interface services.
Its revenue was running at an annualized rate of more than US$100 million in March 2025.
The deal adds to funding in China’s AI sector, where ShengShu recently raised over US$290 million.
Providers of AI-generated video in China are also preparing for new labeling rules that take effect on September 1, 2025.
