Kuaishou’s Kling AI seeks $3b in debut funding round
Beijing-based Kuaishou said in a July 3 filing in Hong Kong that its AI video unit Kling AI is seeking about US$3 billion in its first external fundraising round, as competition in AI video tools intensifies.
The filing named Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba Cloud, and the Beijing Information Industry Development Investment Fund, among the backers.
Kuaishou described Kling AI, launched in June 2024, as an independent AI product for video generation.
By April, Kuaishou executives said Kling AI had more than 22 million users globally.
Kuaishou also said Kling AI’s annualized revenue run rate had surpassed US$100 million by March 2025. The unit serves more than 10,000 corporate clients and developers through application programming interfaces.
The fundraising comes as Kuaishou positions Kling AI against OpenAI’s Sora. It also comes as China’s rules requiring labels on AI-generated content took effect on September 1, 2025.
