Kuaishou shares drop 13% on growth, profit concerns after Q4
Kuaishou shares fell more than 13% to HK$45.96 (US$5.89) in midday Hong Kong trading a day after the Chinese short-video firm reported Q4 results, as analysts flagged risks to its main businesses and profitability.
Kuaishou posted Q4 revenue of 39.57 billion yuan (US$5.7 billion), up 12% year-on-year.
86Research analyst Zhang Xueru said investors are reassessing the stock as revenue growth is expected to slow while heavier spending on AI could pressure margins.
Huatai Securities analysts said rising subsidies for Kuaishou’s ecommerce operations could weigh on ad growth.
They added that livestreaming revenue could face pressure from tighter scrutiny in mainland China, and forecast 2026 revenue growth of 4.5%.

🧠 Food for thought

- Regulators have penalized Kuaishou in recent months. Beijing’s cyberspace regulator fined it 119.1 million yuan for content-moderation failures, and China’s market regulator fined a Kuaishou unit about $3.7 million over e-commerce violations 3, 4.
- Analysts have flagged added risks, which raises the pressure to find more sources of income.
- Heavy AI spending, including Kling AI, aims to add new ways to grow alongside advertising plus e-commerce 1.
- Many large tech firms use profits from established businesses to pay for long-term AI work, while managing disruption plus regulation.
