Kuaishou plans first offshore bonds sale
Kuaishou Technology, a Chinese short-video platform based in Beijing, is pitching its first offshore bond sale with proposed offerings in both US dollars and Chinese yuan.
The company will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, with each bond offering able to proceed independently, according to a stock exchange filing.
The company saw a 13% year-on-year rise in total revenue to 103.2 billion yuan (US$15 billion) for the first nine months of 2025.
Kuaishou’s Hong Kong-listed shares rose 4.1% after the announcement.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Kuaishou’s outlooks may mask refinancing pressure as rivals tap Dim Sum bonds
- Kuaishou plans a dual-currency sale as Tencent and Baidu raised a record 23.4 billion yuan in offshore yuan bonds in 2025 1. Tencent has $500 million due in April 2025 and $1 billion in January 2026 2. It returned to Dim Sum issuance as borrowing costs fell 1.
- S&P and Moody’s gave Kuaishou stable outlooks. It has not shared bond size or maturity profile (timing of existing debt coming due) or leverage ratios (debt relative to earnings). Use of proceeds is “general corporate purposes,” so buyers cannot judge if it is locking in cheap funding or dealing with maturity walls (clusters of debt coming due around the same time).
Fixed-income investors can capture new-issue premiums by comparing Kuaishou pricing with recent tech spreads
- Baidu sold zero-coupon (no periodic interest payments) exchangeable bonds (debt that can be swapped into shares of another company) at about 43% premium to the Trip.com delta placement price (the reference stock price used to set conversion terms) 3.
- Tencent’s 4.525% bond due 2049 holds an A rating 4. Use it as a benchmark (reference point) when gauging Kuaishou’s pricing.
- Track orderbook dynamics (the size plus composition of investor orders that reveal demand) and new-issue concessions (extra yield or price discounts versus comparable bonds) on Kuaishou’s dual-currency deal versus recent Tencent, Baidu deals that rode record Dim Sum issuance (yuan-denominated debt issued outside mainland China, typically in Hong Kong) of $46.2 billion in 2025 2.
