Krafton to invest another $250m in India beyond gaming

South Korean game publisher Krafton said on September 4 that it plans to invest another US$250 million in India over the next three to four years, expanding beyond gaming into AI, robotics, and deep tech.

That would bring Krafton’s total planned investment in India to more than US$500 million, including the more than US$250 million it has invested since 2021.

The new pledge is separate from the roughly US$670 million India-focused fund it unveiled in December 2025 with Naver, a South Korean internet company, and Mirae Asset, a South Korean investment firm.

Krafton built its India business around Battlegrounds Mobile India, or BGMI, after India banned PUBG Mobile in 2020. BGMI was also banned in 2022 before Indian authorities allowed it to return in 2023 on a three-month trial basis.

The company said it has backed about 18 companies in India, including four to five gaming studios, and acquired Pune-based game developer Nautilus Mobile in 2025.
