Korean chipmaker FuriosaAI seeks $300m in pre-IPO: sources
FuriosaAI, a chip startup based in Seoul, is planning to raise over US$300 million in a potential pre-IPO funding round, according to people familiar with the matter.
The company, which designs AI chips for inferencing and services, has invited global banks to submit proposals for its series D round as it seeks to attract more international investors.
The new fundraising could start as soon as January, with most proceeds expected to go toward developing FuriosaAI’s third-generation AI chip.
This round may also serve as a prelude to a possible public listing, which could happen as early as 2027.
Earlier this year, FuriosaAI raised US$125 million, surpassing its target of US$80 million, and reportedly turned down an US$800 million takeover offer from Meta.
Founded in 2017 by June Paik, FuriosaAI has previously claimed performance improvements over Nvidia’s chips, but these figures have not been independently verified.
