Klarna enters $27t stablecoin market
Klarna has launched KlarnaUSD, its first stablecoin, as stablecoin transactions reach an estimated US$27 trillion annually, according to McKinsey.
Klarna, a digital bank and payments provider, is introducing KlarnaUSD on Tempo, a blockchain developed by Stripe and Paradigm for payments.
KlarnaUSD is currently accessible only on Tempo’s testnet and is not available to the public.
The stablecoin is built using Open Issuance by Bridge, a stablecoin infrastructure platform owned by Stripe.
Klarna said the mainnet launch is expected in 2026.
KlarnaUSD is not yet publicly traded, with updates about broader availability to be announced later.
