KKR hires Goldman to sell stake in PH fintech Maya: sources

KKR, a global investment firm, has hired Goldman Sachs to manage the potential sale of its minority stake in the Philippine fintech company Maya, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The New York-based firm owns over 20% of Maya, and the sale could value the fintech at more than US$2 billion, one of the sources indicated.

KKR and Goldman Sachs declined to comment, and Maya referred inquiries to KKR.

KKR invested in Maya in October 2018 as part of a US$175 million funding round, which also included Tencent Holdings.

In April 2022, Maya raised US$210 million to expand its digital banking services, resulting in a valuation of US$1.4 billion.
