Khazanah backs greentech firm for EV charging expansion
Khazanah Nasional Berhad, through its Dana Impak unit, has invested in chargEV, Yinson GreenTech’s EV charging arm, to support Malaysia’s low-carbon transition.
Announced on Mar. 10, the investment aims to expand chargEV’s network and help achieve the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry’s target of 10,000 EV charging points nationwide. As of early 2025, Malaysia has 3,611 charging points.
The investment aligns with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and is expected to accelerate the deployment of charging infrastructure.
ChargEV, initially developed by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), focuses on increasing chargers while ensuring efficient use and renewable energy integration.
Khazanah’s managing director, Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, emphasized the investment’s role in strengthening Malaysia’s EV infrastructure.
Yinson GreenTech CEO Lim Chern Yuan said that the funding would enhance chargEV’s operations and meet growing demand for charging solutions.
