Kakao Pay profit jumps 141% on strong growth

Kakao Pay is a South Korean mobile payments provider said its first-quarter net profit rose 141.5% year on year to 34.7 billion won (US$23.8 million).

Operating profit rose to 32.2 billion won (US$21.9 million) from 4.4 billion won (US$2.99 million).

Revenue increased 41.7% to 300.3 billion won (US$204 million).

The results beat the 25.5 billion won (US$17.3 million) average net profit estimate in a survey.
