🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Juspay’s expansion aligns with APAC’s digital payment surge
Juspay’s strategic move to Singapore comes as the Asia-Pacific payment gateway market is experiencing significant growth.
The region’s payment gateway sector, valued at $11.88 billion in 2024, is projected to reach $25.42 billion by 2033, growing at an 8.38% CAGR from 2025 to 2033 1.
Southeast Asia’s digital payment transactions specifically are expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2025, driven by widespread consumer tech platform adoption 2.
For Juspay, which already processes an impressive $900 billion in annual payment volume, this expansion positions them to capture a meaningful share of this growing market.
The timing is particularly strategic as APAC consumers increasingly demand real-time payments capabilities and cross-border transaction options, both areas where Juspay has demonstrated expertise.
2️⃣ Evolution from small startup to global payment infrastructure provider
Juspay’s expansion into Singapore represents a remarkable growth trajectory from its founding in 2012.
The company started with just 30 employees and raised its Series A funding of ₹40 crore in 2016 led by Accel Partners, with plans at that time to expand to merely 50 employees 3.
By comparison, Juspay now employs 1,200 payment experts across five countries and processes over 200 million daily transactions—nearly 300 times the 700,000 daily transactions it handled in 2016 3.
