J&T Express delivers 30.1 billion parcels in 2025

J&T Express reported a record 30.1 billion parcels delivered in 2025, up 22.2% year-on-year.

The Hong Kong-listed logistics operator saw Q4 parcel volume reach 8.46 billion, a 14.5% rise from the previous year.

The company, which operates across China, Southeast Asia, and several emerging markets, said growth was strongest in Southeast Asia and “New Markets” such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Mexico, Brazil, and Egypt.

In Southeast Asia, parcel volume rose 67.8% to 7.66 billion for the year, while New Markets saw a 43.6% rise to 400 million parcels.

In China, full-year parcel volume reached 22.07 billion, up 11.4%.

J&T Express invested in automation and expanded its network, ending 2025 with 19,300 outlets and 246 sorting centers.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

China’s profitability problem lurks beneath parcel growth

  • Parcel volume rose at a double-digit rate in 2025, yet margins shrank in H1 2025 as revenue per parcel fell from $0.34 to $0.30, and adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) dropped 78% to $13 million despite cost cuts 1.
  • Gross margin slid from 11% to 9.8% as price wars in China eroded unit economics 1.
  • Cost per parcel fell from $0.32 to $0.28, but profits remain hard to sustain at scale in China 1.
  • China’s 2025 parcel surge may have added little profit compared with Southeast Asia, where adjusted EBIT rose 74% in the first half 1.

Automation and logistics suppliers can pitch for J&T’s expansion procurement

  • J&T has put more than 1,000 unmanned vehicles to work in China and 337 automated sorting machines worldwide 23. That pace points to ongoing buying of automation gear, material handling systems, plus industrial real estate 23.
  • The 65-acre Greater Bay Area hub in southern China covers 320,000 square meters with capacity for 15 million parcels a day, showing the size of single-site projects open to logistics automation vendors 4.
  • Suppliers of cross-belt sorting systems (high-speed automated sorters), telescopic conveyors (extendable loaders for trucks), plus Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring platforms should watch J&T’s 2026 capital expenditures (capex) plans, with a focus on Southeast Asia 34. The region saw 78% parcel growth in the early-November peak season, while Thailand lifted site capacity by 80%, which exposes network gaps vendors can fill 34.
