JD.com launches food delivery with commission-free offer
JD.com, a major e-commerce platform in China, has announced its launch into the food delivery sector.
The company invites catering merchants to join its new platform, JD Takeaway, and offers commission-free services until the end of 2025 for those who register before May 1.
This announcement, made through JD.com’s official Weixin account, introduces JD Takeaway as a competitor in a market dominated by Meituan and Alibaba’s Ele.me.
JD.com plans to utilize its extensive logistics network, which is known for enabling same-day or next-day delivery across many regions in China.
This move into food delivery coincides with heightened competition in the e-commerce sector from Alibaba Group, PDD Holdings, and Douyin.
